The Hague PDB 250g Electric Yarn Winder will wind up to 250 grammes, depending on the type of yarn used and comes complete with its own Disc Tension, leaving the mast on your knitting machine free to carry on knitting while you are winding. A spare Bobbin is also supplied. There is no auto switch off, so you will have to switch the yarn winder off once the bobbin is full.

The winder will be the correct voltage for the country it is being sent to, you may have to fit a suitable plug in some countries.

With all electric twisters and winders the internal drive belt is a constantly moving part, similar to a tyre on a car, and therefore we would always recommend buying a spare pack of drive belts to have available should the belt ever need replacing. The winder is also designed for domestic use, not industrial use.

    Electric yarn winder

Very pleased with this, something that works without being handwoven! I find the yarn grip at the top of the bobbin is not great for 4ply and finer yarns and it needs to be wound a bit first and sometimes it is hard to get of the bobbin as it has wound tightly, but these are small things that mean I do not have to hand wind.

    Great Buy

This is such a relief from the ache of using a manual yarn winder! Simple, user friendly, space saver and quite durable. Have a spare belt for heavy use and a couple of bobbins. Happy with my purchase!

    Electric Yarn Winder

Seems to work well, although it's a little difficult to know if the plastic cones are screwed on tight enough, as it's hard to grip the base they attach to. They fly off if not properly fitted. Also it would be useful if there was an option for the clamp to be attached to one of the longer sides of the base - I was winding yarn from skeins on a table-top swift, so needed the feed to come from a different angle. The winder isn't particularly fast but it certainly saves wear and tear on the shoulders when winding by hand!

    Works, but finicky

Posted by Julia on 12th Oct 2020

Assembly is quick and it's got sturdy construction. At first I was confused by the two bobbins, but soon realized why. The first wind is super tight, even on the lowest tension. You can't slip it off the bobbin. I found a second wind coming off the first bobbin is necessary for a reasonable tension. It's a finicky process, loose enough tension not to stretch the yarn, and it slips off so much you have to unwind and rewind. Too tight, and you can't get it off the bobbin. This saves elbow grease and shoulder aches but not time. I wouldn't recommend it for a time saver or for a shop, too many variables. But definitely worth it if you have tennis elbow and 7 akeins of fingering weight yarn to wind for the Find Your Fade shawl. Shipped fast and packed well.
